"Diesel power was the obvious choice," Roger Barnes, Legacy Boats CEO said when asked why they opted for the Yanmar power-plant:
"While the initial engine cost is higher than petrol, this is quickly repaid by significantly lower running costs. We've made comparative tests with an equivalent sized petrol boat, running out to the fishing grounds 30km to sea at high speed, four hours trolling, then returning. Our fuel costs for the day were almost 50% lower.
The Yanmar turbo-diesel was chosen for its reliabilty, power to weight ratio and low specific fuel consumption. It's a proven unit, with a well established service organisation throughout Australia." |
